ILAN YANIZKY was born in Israel, brought up in Italy and studied at the Rome Art Academy and at the Tel-Aviv School of Art.
Came to Japan in 1983 and started studying sumie with Master Yamada Kou of the Nanga-in, Nanga School, in 1985, and calligraphy, with Maki Rantai of the Tokyo Gakushoin in 1987.
Yanizky holds a master degree in sumie and calligraphy and has been teaching at his Yoyogi Uehara studio since 1989.
Yanizky had one-man shows and group shows and was awarded the Nanga-in Prize and the Tokyo Metropolitan Governor Award for sumie.
Yanizky has been featured in most magazines and newspapers in Japan, on multiple TV channels, and ANA inflight broadcasts. His artworks were commissioned by various enterprises to decorate hotels, restaurants, shops, offices and a university.
